Dhoni has a motorcycle racing team: Kawasaki MSD RN Team India

MS Dhoni, captain of the Indian cricket team has taken his passion for fast motorbikes to a new level. He has silently entered into the world of motorsports by buying a team which competes in the Supersport World Championship, a support race for World Superbike Championship. Named Kawasaki MSD RN Team India, Dhoni's motorcycle team, Kawasaki MSD RN Team India was announced last month. Their first race took place on the 20-22 July 2012 in Brno, Czech Republic. Dhoni's motorcycle team has hired 19 year old French racer, Florian Marino (previously with British Superbike Team) and 24 year old British racer, Dan Linfoot.

Kawasaki MSD RN Team India participated in the 17 races a season Supersport World Championship, from the tenth race. Till date, Dhoni's team has raced in three races. In the first race, only Marino participated as Linfoot was recovering from hand injury, Marino finished 13, scoring 3 points. In the second race (3-5 Aug) at Silverstone, Great Britain, Marino finished 19th, scoring no points, while Linfoot did not finish the race. In the most recent race, (24-26 Aug) at Moscow, Russia, Marino finished 14th (2 points) while Linfoot finished 16th (no points). The next race will take place in Nurburgring, Germany (7-9 Sep).

Amit Sandill, Team Principal, Kawasaki MSD RN Team India said that their aim is to popularize the sport in Asia, especially India. "We are looking at it from the long term perspective. Trying to grow the sport in Asia. The sport itself is in a pretty nascent stage in Asia so this is a first step. Trying to get to the championship and making a kind of mark in the championship and then take the sport to India and then other countries in Asia. We would also like to start a Racing Academy. Behind all this is the passion, which comes as a bonus," Sandill added.

Dhoni is yet to speak about his new team, but according to official details, he is part of the Kawasaki MSD RN Team India management. Superstar, Nagarjuna is the Director while Nandish Domlur, who by profession is a cardiac surgeon, is the MD & CEO of Kawasaki MSD RN Team India.
