Mazda6 arrives in Moscow

Mazda6 made its global debut at the Moscow Motor Show. Sales of Mazda6 are expected to commence later this year in Europe, while in North American markets by early 2013. This model has long been awaited as it will be seen with Russian specifications which will include SkyActiv –G 2.0 liter gasoline engine producing 134 hp and 155 lb/ft torque. This engine can either be mated to a SkyActiv-MT six speed manual transmission or a six speed automatic transmission.

The gasoline engined model suited for Russian markets will see enhanced power as compared to the N American counterpart. Here the Mazda6 will have a larger 2.5 liter gasoline engine and hence will offer 189 hp and 189 lb/ft torque and will also be available with SkyActiv-Drive transmission. Mazda6 will have new 19" five double spoke alloy wheels, a super strong steel frame and new multi link suspension system at the rear. Being extra light, Mazda6 will see a 10% improvement in fuel efficiency under normal city driving conditions.

Another novel feature will be the "i-stop" function or idling stop system that Mazda says will improve the restart of engine by 0.35 seconds while a single nanotechnology in the catalyst improves the exhaust gas process. Russian specifications also include LED headlamps with halo ring light guides. These are available with Adaptive Front Lighting System wherein these lamps can track vehicle movement around curves and are specially suited for night time driving.
