Sony launches 4.6 inch Xperia ion with Android 4.0 at a price of Rs 37,000

Sony had announced the arrival of its newest Xperia smartphone at CES 2012, and finally it’s arrived. Xperia ion is Sony’s first Android 4.0- 4G LTE compliant smartphone to be available in India. Needless to say the company has high hopes with sales of this smartphone in this part of the world.

However, it’s a known fact that 4G as of now is available in only few select cities in India. The smartphone has a 12 megapixel main camera and a 1.3 megapixel camera in front. The device is capable of recording Full HD- 1080p video. This smartphone has a 4.6 inch 4 point multi touch TFT capacitive touch screen that is scratch resistant/shatter proof and packs in a pixel resolution of 1280 x 720.

Sony’s newest offering comes with a 1.5 Qualcomm MSM 8260 dual core CPU, Adreno 220 GPU and 1GB RAM. The smartphone is DLNA certified and has functions such as proximity sensor, compass, ambient light sensor and accelerometer. This device has Micro USB- 2.0 HDMI- Out, Bluetooth, Assisted GPS, NFC and Wi-Fi. Airtel users can avail of special offers on purchase of Xperia ion.

Priced at Rs 37,000, this smartphone will attract the business community in India. Snapdeal.com is offering this device at Rs, 36,000 and an option to choose between two offers, a free DTH connection worth Rs 2500, or movie tickets with free lunch worth Rs 2000.
