Honda Motor Co Ltd disclose all Greenhouse Gas Emissions

On August 25th 2012, Honda Motor Company Limited became the first mobility company to make public all their greenhouse gas emissions both during production, and use. This showcased Honda's commitment to creating a cleaner and healthier environment and their role and responsibility in calculating and making these emissions known.

During fiscal year ending March 31, 2012, 225.06 million tons of greenhouse gases were produced during processes of manufacture, use and disposal of all Honda products which included both four and two wheeler vehicles. Breaks up of these figures were as follows. 4.2 million tons or 1.9% were created during manufacture while 195.88 million tons or 87% were created during use. This endeavor by the company shows their commitment to reducing GHG and extension of the Honda Life Cycle Assessment approach.

The GHG Protocol defines three scopes of emissions. These are categorized in to Scope 1, Scope 2 and Scope 3. Honda discloses all Scope 1 and 2 emissions ever since 2009 but disclosed Scope 3 emissions for the first time in June 2012.
